David Chan Portfolio Redesign

January 7, 2012 | Posted By: Nahchusdivad @ 10:57 pm

Happy 2012! I haven’t officially blogged about the new design, so I thought I’d take some time to talk about it. The more I was looking at the old design, the more I saw flaws and things I could do better. So much so, it started to really annoy me! I launched the old site a couple years back and since then have built several websites for various people and organizations and was improving all along the way.

So here’s the new and improved site. I’ve played with some CSS3 in the site and had a lot of fun. As always I like to keep it simple and clean.

I’ve completely separated my portfolios for photography and web. Whether you choose web or photography, you’ll be in an isolated section just for that. It’s a lot more organized I think. And this is just the canvas. I plan to add other categories of photos in the photography section including landscapes, food, etc. For the web section I may add a section for graphic design, logos, etc.

I’ve laid out my web portfolio in a similar fashion as before, but in a more attractive and smart layout. I want to showcase my web work and allow visitors to check out the sites.

For photography, I’ve been working on a few various way to display the photos. I had a more standard viewer set up with a larger image and small scrolling thumbnails as well, so I’m still deciding which I like better.

So check it out and let me know what you think =) Next I’ll be working on a mobile version.

Youth Development Program Website Launch!

November 28, 2011 | Posted By: Nahchusdivad @ 8:22 pm

Just recently launched a website for the after school program, Youth Development Program. I’ve had the pleasure of working with these folks to help inspire children with multi-media rich programs. I personally was teaching kids how to make their very own websites all about themselves utilizing iWeb on macbooks. Of course the children sites are not online, but they do get a copy to keep. Along with my web program, there is all sorts of enrichment programs from the arts, dance, video production, animations, and so much more. Check it out here at: www.ydplausd.com

November 18, 2011 | Posted By: Nahchusdivad @ 2:34 am

I’ve recently redesigned a website for a multimedia company called Heart And Soul Design Communications. Their last design was flash-based and the company CEO wanted to stray away from that. It’s actually an early launch of the site so stay tuned to a couple more additions to the site.

Out Of My Mind Productions

Met up with my friend to discuss a website for his production company. He had a very clear idea of what he was looking for and eventually even drew up his own logo idea. I took all the pieces of his puzzle and threw it together in photoshop. He wanted a grungy feel with some graffiti like aspects. Together, a in a few hours, we came up with this design.

Its a bit dark and playful at the same time.

Business Cards

November 17, 2010 | Posted By: Nahchusdivad @ 9:29 am

I’ve had several people approach me to design business cards. So I started dabbling in them to see what I like. I’m leaning towards vertical aligned business cards for actors so the headshot can be large, but there are alternatives. Here are some I did for my significant other who shall be known as S =). She refers to me on her website as D. Cute eh? Oh and her name is not Sally Lee and all info is fake to preserve some privacy. And these photos were not taken by me but by a very talented photographer named Vince Trupsin. Anyways, I’ll figure out a pricing for this service soon. Should be pretty inexpensive because it’s relatively easy to do.

Photo collage for a friend.

July 25, 2010 | Posted By: Nahchusdivad @ 7:37 pm

A friend of mine asked me to put together a photo collage for her friend who was an actor. She dumped a large folder of images on me which seemed pretty random. A lot of them were headshots and other miscellaneous things. I had a few different approaches and so far this is my favorite.

Here’s another more abstract version. Overall dimensions are 15 x 36in.

Business Card Design

July 6, 2010 | Posted By: Nahchusdivad @ 9:21 pm

I hate making logos! But not if I’m happy with it =) I did some play with lettering and came up with a nice simple logo for my website. I’ve simplified it even more for my business card. I wanted to go along with the same color scheme as the website for the “DAVIDCHAN” lettering, but wasn’t sure if the CMYK colors would match up enough to please me. So I went with a neon green color. I’m happy with it.
